Summer Exchange Program for High School

Explore, Inc. is pleased to announce our summer exchange program for high school students in Zambia. Located at the crossroads between Southern and East Africa, Zambia is one of the safest and most welcoming countries in Africa. While it is one of the poorest countries on the continent, it is also one of the most politically stable. With over 70 spoken languages and ethnic groups, Zambia is an excellent example of tribal harmony and religious cohesion. Zambia also boasts some of Africa’s best wildlife reserves and is home to the magnificent Victoria Falls.

Zambia is the ideal center to study key issues pertinent to Africa today. This program provides an outstanding educational experience in Zambia exploring themes of contemporary Africa:

• Traditional African Culture
• Colonial history & influence of colonialism
• Zambian economy
• Environmental management
• Ethnic identity
• Wildlife management
• Sustainable development
• Governments and NGOs

SERVICE PROJECTS

• Construction projects with schools and villages
• Village clean-up project including building rubbish pits
• Sports event coordination, facilitation & participation
• Working with women’s craft and farming cooperatives
• Sustainable food production efforts

ADVENTURE AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

• Witness the "ghost dance" in traditional Tikondani village
• Game viewing in the world famous South Luangwa National Park & Lower Zambezi region
• Discover the "gentle giants" on an elephant-back safari
• Experience the grandeur of mighty Victoria Falls
• Take a boat trip on the Zambezi River spotting crocodiles & hippos
