Day 1
TRIPOLI
Arrival in Tripoli. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 2
DAY EXCURSIONS / GERMA
Excursion to Sabratha, which is located about 65km (40 miles) west of Tripoli. After the fall of Carthaginian power, the ancient Phoenician trading post Sabratha became a Roman town. The port was one of the few along the Syrtic coast allowing for the trade of gold, ivory, animals and slaves coming from Ghadames, central Africa, Rome and Mediterranean cities.

You will cross the city along the cardum admiring the residential quarters, the forum, the basilicas, the temple of Liber Pater, the seaside baths and the amphitheater - the most notable Roman building of Sabratha. You will admire the beautiful reliefs adorning the stage and images of muses, dancers, tragedy and comic masks. In the afternoon, take a short visit of the Libyan capital city walking in the medina and its souk. Also visit the arch of Marcus Aurelius, the only Roman remain of "Oea," the ancient name of the capital. Transfer to the airport and fly to Sebha. On arrival, transfer by two-hour car trip to Germa for dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 3
LAKES AMONG SAND DUNES
Just north of Germa a full day excursion will take you to the awesome sight of dunes varying between white, rose and purple depending on how the day's light plays upon the grains of sand. Only expert drivers can climb the dunes and find the way to amazing lakes surrounded by palms and reeds. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4
WADI MATHENDUSH / ROCK ART
Today you visit the world-famous cave paintings and petroglyphs at Wadi Mathendush and Gualghien, where giraffes, huge elephants, rhinos, gazelles, and oryx are magnificently portrayed on stone walls and inside caves.

Day 5
GERMA / AKAKUS MOUNTAINS
In Germa, located in the valley of Wadi al-Ajal, you visit a museum with numerous votive altars, funerary furniture and other ancient remains. After the visit, depart to the Akakus region and your tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6
THE REGION OF AKAKUS
Today is dedicated to the Auis area located in the northern part of the Akakus region. You will walk from the camp to the most appealing sights of the area to discover desert animals, flowers, bushes, colored rocks, various sand colors and all the wonders of the desert. Among scenery of dunes and rocky massifs you will discover an ancient tumulus (burial mound), engravings, paintings, wadi and black plains. The four-wheel drive vehicle will take you back to your tented camp. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7
AKAKUS REGION - TESHUINET
Thanks to its morphological variety and radical climatic and cultural changes, the Tadrart Akakus is the meeting place of many prehistoric and historic Saharian cultures. Impressive painted shelters will be seen in the southern area during a full-day excursion. Of particular interest are the sites of Uan Amil and In Ehed. In the late afternoon you return to camp.

Day 8
THE DUNES OF UAN KAZA
Today will be a day-long excursion to the region of Uan Kaza, a string of dunes stretching between the Akakus and the plateau of Messak Settafet, characterized by sandy slopes, winding passages, steep descents and sandy dunes. In the afternoon return to camp.

Day 9
OASIS OF GHAT / TRIPOLI
Morning departure to the oasis of Al Awaynat. Lunch in a local restaurant and continue on to Ghat. Visit the old village and depart to Tripoli after dinner by charter flight.

Day 10
LEPTIS MAGNA
To the east of Tripoli lies Leptis Magna, the ancient Phoenician emporium which was a Carthagenese settlement and later a rich Roman town which became rich and powerful during the dynasty of Septimius Severus. The choice of the site of Leptis Magna was dictated by the presence of a natural harbor artificially improved in the first century CE and again by Severus. Near the early Phoenician town are the excavated remains of the old forum, the heart of the city in early Roman times. From this early nucleus the Roman city rapidly spread westward with the quarters of the theater and the market. The Hadrian baths, the big fountain with statues and waterfalls of the nymphaeum, the forum and the adjoining basilica are the most imposing monuments showing the prosperity of ancient times. In the south-east is the circus, one of the most impressive in the Roman world. Return to Tripoli.

Day 11
