Luxury Botswana

Day 1
DEPART
Depart the USA to Johannesburg, South Africa (or other flight arrangements).

Day 2
JOHANNESBURG
Arrive Johannesburg and check into your beautiful hotel located just 20 minutes from the airport. Set in estate-like grounds in Morningside Manor, this exclusive boutique hotel would appear entirely appropriate in a stylish Parisian square!

Days 3-5
KWANDO RESERVE
On the morning of Day 3 you are transferred to the airport to board your Air Botswana flight to Maun, Botswana. Upon arrival you are met and chartered to your luxury tented camp in the Kwando Reserve. Camp consists of luxurious and spacious safari tents with unique, elegant designs which include a special dressing area. Double sinks, open air showers and claw-foot bath tubs are found in the spacious bathrooms with around-the-clock hot water. Each tent has extensive views over expansive tracts of African plains and wetlands that comprise part of the Kwando-Linyanti flood plain system. Lion, leopard and cheetah are frequently sighted close to the camp and wild dogs are occasionally sited.

Days 6-7
LINYANTI RESERVE
After breakfast on Day 6 you are driven directly to your luxury tented safari camp situated on the banks of the eastern Selinda Spillway - a waterway linking Botswana's Okavango Delta to the Linyanti Swamps. The shaded camp offers splendid views over the Spillway and open floodplain savannah with its characteristic palm islands.

The camp's luxurious tents are under thatch with attached bathrooms that include a romantic bath, a shower, hot and cold running water and flush toilets.

This is one of the best areas in Botswana for predators and their prey and activities include morning, afternoon and night game drives with experienced professional guides in custom-built four-wheel drive Land Cruisers. The Selinda area is well known for its hippo-killing lion, cheetah, wild dog and, if you're lucky, a leopard on your night drives. Sightings of plains game such as giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, impala, lechwe, tsessebe and elephant are common, plus the added excitement of night predators such as hyena, jackal, bat-eared fox and small cats. Game viewing by boat on the Zibalianja Lagoon is available depending on the water levels at the time. Bird watching is excellent and many owls can be spotted on night drives.

Days 8-9
OKAVANGO DELTA
On the morning of Day 8 you are chartered to a small luxury camp situated in a tree-filled island on the edge of the permanent waters of the Okavango Delta in Botswana.

Game drives operate both off-road and at night to see interesting mammal species that are mainly active at night such as leopard, lion, wild dog, hyena, the elusive civit cat, bat-eared fox and the genet. Alternatively, take an evening cruise of the delta to look for baby crocs and the exquisite malachite kingfisher.

Accommodations are in spacious Meru tents with attached private bathrooms. The tents are on raised teak decks to afford views over the surrounding plains.

Days 10-12
OKAVANGO DELTA
On the morning of Day 10 you are chartered to your next luxury camp situated in a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. A variety of habitats ensures diverse and interesting game viewing. Lion and leopard are plentiful and tsessebe, lechwe and wildebeest dot the flood plains.

The camp offers an excellent Okavango experience with game drives, mokoro (dug-out canoe) excursions, short guided walks and boating available. Night drives allow guests to view the nocturnally active animals in the area such as the elusive civit cat, bat-eared fox and the genet.

Accommodation is in a luxurious, unique, and contemporary African style room which are raised on wooden decks and constructed of split bamboo and thatch with canvas walls. Private facilities include a shower, flush toilet and basin, as well as an outdoor shower.

Day 13-15
OKAVANGO DELTA
On the morning of Day 13 you are chartered to your final luxury camp which represents perhaps the most exclusive safari experience to be found in all of Africa. Hidden under a canopy of African ebony trees you will find six unique, luxurious safari tents designed similar to the Sydney Opera House. Each dramatic tent is elevated on its own teak platform. Comforts include claw-footed bathtubs, antiques and spectacular cuisine.

Here game drives are taken on elephant back, a very unique vantage-point to explore the unsurpassed beauty of the Delta. A family of elephants and professional elephant trainer and guide accompanies you. You may also go on walking safaris amongst the baby elephants accompanied by an armed guide. Take mokoro (traditional canoe) rides through papyrus lined Delta channels.

This private concession area consists of a half million acres of mopane woodland, savannah and verdant wetland. View the unsurpassed beauty of the Delta and mingle with the profusion of other animals resident to the area: cheetah, wild dog, lion, Cape buffalo, zebra, giraffe, and many others.

Day 16
DEPART
This morning you are chartered back to Maun to board your Air Botswana flight to Johannesburg. Make your way to your international flight homeward.

Day 17
USA
Arrive home.
